Restaurant opens at the Bass Pro Shop in Broken Arrow

Hoping to make Broken Arrow's Bass Pro Shop even more of a destination stop, the outdoor retailer has opened a new restaurant inside the store.

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells stopped in to check it out and found fish of course, and everything else from elk to alligator.

The Islamorada is well known fishing center in the Florida Keys; it is now the new restaurant inside the Bass Pro Shop. Brian Goforth: "We are flying in fresh fish every day." So most of the fish folks are eating Tuesday spent Monday swimming in the Gulf of Mexico or the ocean. Brian Goforth: "Quite honestly there's not another restaurant like this in Oklahoma it's really unique."

The Islamorada Fish Company is part of every new Bass Pro Shop. Now there are 8, soon there will be 14.

The fish is the staple but they also serve steak, elk and venison. Brian Goforth: "We have venison stuffed mushrooms, as one of our items on the menu." Folks seem to be excited about the concept.

The Lodge room is decorated with fish on the walls and fish hanging from the ceiling. Between bites of bread, 5 year old Kyler Pearson told me his favorite is that big blue shark. There's a 13,000-gallon salt water aquarium installed behind the bar. Brian Goforth: "Don't be surprised if someday you walk in and there's a mermaid in the tank, most definitely." Mermaids, I may have to take up fishing.

The restaurant is open from 11 AM until 10 PM weekdays and Saturdays and from 11 until 7 on Sundays.
