A Tulsa man faces first degree murder charges in the death of a 10-year-old girl.

Daniel Johnson is charged in the March 28th death of Elizabeth Wagoner. She disappeared while taking a walk. Her body was later found near a dumpster behind a strip mall.

Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris told the family about the charges at their home.

He also warned them this will be a long, painful journey in court. "You know, how does a family do after their 10-year-old girl has been murdered? They have support groups that are coming to their aid. They have people in this community, both family and friends, that are surrounding them with love. But you have parents that are grieving."

Johnson will be arraigned Thursday.

Also on Thursday, the DA and Tulsa Police are holding a safety and awareness program for students at Elizabeth's school.
