NEW YORK (AP) -- Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor was one of 13 mayors from across the country attending a conference on illegal guns in New York City on Tuesday.

The conference was being hosted by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.

Bloomberg and Menino criticized the federal government for not doing enough to stop the spread of illegal guns.

The mayors summit hopes to create a coalition to trade crimefighting information, work together on city and state legislation and form a louder voice in Washington DC.

Other mayors at the conference are from Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Dallas, Milwaukee and Seattle. Also attending are mayors from Providence, Rhode Island; Hartford, Connecticut; Trenton and Jersey City, New Jersey; and Buffalo and Rochester, New York.
