New developments in the search for a Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent. The School Board announced Saturday a fifth and final candidate.
Doctor Michael Zolkoski has 20 years of experience as a superintendent, serving in several districts in Texas and Louisiana. Right now, he's got the top job in Brownsville, Texas a district that's slightly larger than Tulsa Public Schools. 98 percent of the Brownsville student body is Hispanic.
The school board says they delayed the announcement of Zolkoski, because his district is in the middle of a $135-million bond election. And the Brownsville superintendent didn't want his candidacy in Tulsa to effect the election's outcome.
Zolkoski is scheduled to visit Tulsa next Wednesday. And the Tulsa School Board is expected to narrow the five candidates down to two, next Saturday.
