Tribes announce opening of college

Weatherford, Okla. (AP) _ Officials from the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma say they're planning to open a two-year college in Weatherford.

The Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribal College will operate under Southwestern Oklahoma State University until it can offer its own accredited courses.

Southwestern has supported the vision for the college over the last three years by instituting an American Indian Studies program and offering Cheyenne language courses.
