Tulsa School Board Names Zolkoski New Superintendent

The Tulsa School Board has decided to hire a new superintendent, Dr. Michael Zolkolski. The school board was in a closed door session most of the afternoon discussing the future leadership of Tulsa Public Schools. This decision ends a long search that took about six weeks to complete.

Dr. Michael Zolkoski of Brownsville, Texas won the school board over when they visited him and his district earlier this week. Dr. Zolkoski was the only finalist left after Dr. Julia Earl, who headed up Nashua, New Hampshire schools, withdrew from the search last Saturday.

Earl was suspended in Nashua and is now under investigation for using public money to take seven trips out of state. Dr. Zolkoski has 20 years of experience as a superintendent. He's led Brownsville schools for three years, where he says he helped take the district from no national merit scholars to 12.
