Air Service Subsidy To Ponca City And Enid At Risk

Updated:
PONCA CITY, Okla. (AP) -- The US Department of Transportation has tentatively decided to discontinue a federal subsidy that provides airline services to Ponca City and Enid.

Currently Great Lakes Aviation receives $1.7-million to provide 12 round trip flights per week to Denver.

The subsidy would end September first and Great Lakes would discontinue service then under the proposal.

Both cities will be allowed to file objections to the plan before it becomes final.

DOT statistics show that for the year ending March 31st there were 2,746 passengers who flew out of the Enid airport and 1,878 from Ponca City.
