Oklahoma City Gay Pride Parade Draws 58 Entries

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma City's 19th annual gay pride parade drew 58 entries as organizers spoke of charity and love.

The grand marshals for the parade Sunday were Barbara York and Bill Wells, who run the food pantry at Church of the Open Arms, and a Seattle lesbian couple, Jane Lighty and Pete-e Petersen, who appeared in the documentary film "Inlaws and Outlaws."

One of the parade's organizers, Paul Thompson, said the selection of the two sets of parade marshals was symbolic. He says it shows how gays have families and couples and that they're just people who want to be part of the community.
