HUGO, Okla. (AP) -- Choctaw County prosecutors are charging a former Idabel man with murder in the death of a Hugo man last week.

Authorities say Marcus Cole is in the Choctaw County jail on a first-degree murder charge in the death of Jack Francies on Friday.

Police say witnesses reported seeing Cole hit Francies Friday night. Officers went to the home where Cole was staying and found Francies' identification in a small fire and some of the dead man's possessions in the house.

The state medical examiner says Francies died from at least one blow to the head.
