SAVANNA, Okla. (AP) -- An Atoka man is dead after crashing his pickup truck on US Highway 69 in Pittsburg County early Tuesday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Steven Stafford was dead on arrival at a McAlester hospital following the crash just south of Savanna.

Troopers say Stafford was southbound when his truck went off the roadway, overcorrected and crossed the highway then rolled three-and-a-half times in the center median.

Troopers say Stafford wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown more than 40 feet from the wreckage.
