OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A Durant banker and long-time member of the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education has been elected chairman of the regents.

John Massey will serve as chairman for the fiscal year that ends next June 30th.

Massey is chairman of the board of First United Bank and Trust in Durant and was first appointed to the state regents in 1992. He was reappointed in 2001.

The board also elected Bill Burgess of Lawton vice chairman; Doctor Ronald White of Oklahoma City secretary; and William Price of Tulsa assistant secretary.

The nine-member board coordinates Oklahoma's 25 public colleges and universities.
