Ozone Alert Issued Again For Tulsa For Friday

Updated:
TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Environmental officials are again issuing yet another Ozone Alert for the Tulsa area for Friday.

Ozone alerts have been issued each day this week since Tuesday.

Children and older adults and people with respiratory problems are being advised to limit their time outside and their activities.

People are also asked to avoid driving if possible or to carpool or use public transportation. Residents are also asked to gas up only in the evening and avoid used gas-powered machines such as lawn mowers and weed trimmers.

Ground-level ozone is the primary component of smog and is a health and environmental concern from May to September.

Ozone is formed by nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds mixing in the presence of intense sunlight.
