Protecting Children

Updated:
Governor Brad Henry is prepared to sign a new law designed to protect children.

The law is named after Cody Greenhaw. He died in 2004 of an overdose at a party where parents were present. Cody had cocaine, methadone and valium in his blood.

Cody's parents worked to get the law changed. The old law allowed for misdemeanor charges to be filed with a fine and one year jail term if convicted.

The new law says adults will face a felony if they allow teens to drink and do drugs and one of them dies.
