TU not starting season with BCS team

Updated:
TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ After starting each of coach Steve Kragthorpe's first three seasons with back-to-back games against teams from Bowl Championship Series-affiliated conferences, Tulsa is on a one-year hiatus from the practice.

TU opened the past three years with games against Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Oklahoma State, and two against Minnesota.

This year's schedule opens against Stephen -F- Austin on August 31st, followed by a trip to BYU on September 9th.

Kragthorpe says wants to play top quality competition, but says those teams have to come to the Golden Hurricane's home field and reciprocate.

Tulsa has plans to play home-and-home series with OU, Kansas, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Vanderbilt and Army over the next seven seasons.
