Hurricane evacuees in Oklahoma not playing the blame game

Lawmakers in Washington DC are holding hearings on the government's response in the days after Hurricane Katrina hit. The former head of FEMA has pointed a finger at state and local authorities in Louisiana.

The News on 6 talked to evacuees who are now staying in the Tulsa area. They say there's enough blame to go around. They say the chain of command and communication broke down, especially between the New Orleans' mayor and Louisiana's governor.

Hurricane evacuee Javon Smith: "They should have been more of a team instead of being separated as far as ideas go because it was crazy."

Smith says she now hopes instead of blame, authorities learn from mistakes. She says the goals now should be helping people get back on their feet, and rebuilding.
