OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Governor Brad Henry Monday is issuing an emergency wildfire declaration as fires burn in more than a dozen counties across Oklahoma.
The declaration provides a formal mechanism to request federal assistance in recovering from the fires, if it's needed.
Henry says the declaration will help make sure local and state agencies have access to all necessary resources.
The governor says the fires have left more than 30 families homeless and forced evacuations in several communities.
A statewide burn ban issued by Henry on November 15th remains in effect.
