Tulsa business owner frustated with vandalism

A Tulsa vandal is being a lot more naughty than nice this holiday season. Someone shot at several windows at an east Tulsa business.

The vandalism amounts to thousands of dollars in damage. News on 6 anchor Craig Day talks with a business owner who is getting very frustated.

Troy Oliver: "We got one here. We got one here." Troy says it's getting old. Someone shot five windows at his business, Tulsa Boat Sales on East 11th Street, with a BB gun. "You fight to try to stay in business this time of year and yeah, somebody comes through and shoot all your windows out it's kind of frustrating. You know you want to ring somebody's neck.”

The good thing is the windows didn't shatter, but at some point they'll all have to be replaced. Cracks will eventually grow and Oliver will have to spend $800 per window to get new panes. "Eventually, yeah, with the cold weather and making them crack a lot, we'll have to go in and replace them which gets quite expensive."

What makes this even more frustrating is that it certainly isn't the first time it has happened. Oliver says it seems like every time he replaces one of these expensive window panes, someone comes along, pulls out a BB gun and does the exact same thing.

A few years ago, a vandal shot out nine windows over the course of a month and a half. It's a problem that becomes more costly and frustrating with every case. "We're down here sweeping up glass and boarding up windows. It's a pain in the butt."

Oliver isn't optimistic the person responsible will be found and will pay him back. "We got one at the top. We got one over here." But he wants to warn other nearby businesses to be on the lookout.

Tulsa Boat Sales is offering a reward to find whoever is responsible for the vandalism.
