McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- The manager of McAlester Regional Airport faces a public intoxication charge after being arrested at the airport Monday night.
Butch Mellor was at the airport because the pilot of a small plane reported a possible fire and was making an emergency landing about 10 Monday night.
Police say Mellor was arrested after the plane landed safely and no fire was found.
A police report says Mellor failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a breath test.
City Manager Susan Monroe declined comment and wouldn't say if Mellor will continue as airport manager while until an investigation is complete.
