Holdenville considers cat ordinance

HOLDENVILLE, Okla. (AP) -- City officials in Holdenville are considering limiting the number of cats a person can have after a California man moved there with 69 felines.

Steve Gagnon says he was kicked out of Bakersfield, California, and moved to the southeastern Oklahoma town because it was the only place he could find with no limit on cats.

But now residents are complaining and the City Council hopes to have an ordinance passed before February. But it may not affect Gagnon because the 8-unit apartment he bought to live with his pets could be grandfathered in.

Gagnon says God told him several years ago to start saving endangered cats and he has them spayed or neutered.
