State lottery officials announce Powerball plans

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State lottery officials Thursday announced plans for Oklahoma's entry into the Powerball lottery game.

Oklahoma will begin selling Powerball tickets on January 12th for the Saturday, January 14th drawing.

And the first drawing that includes Oklahoma will be held in Oklahoma City. Officials say th drawing will be held at 9:59 PM at the International Finals Rodeo at State Fair Park.

The drawings are broadcast live in Oklahoma City on television stations KOKH and KOCB and in Tulsa on KWBT(19).

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday and the jackpot for Saturday's drawing is estimated to be about $57-million. The Powerball reached a record $340-million in November before a winner picked the correct numbers.
