TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Larry Owens scored 21 points and Caleb Green added 17 as Oral Roberts beat Oakland (Mich.) 74-63 in a Mid-Continent Conference game Thursday night.
Oral Roberts (10-8, 5-1 Mid-Con) took control early in the game, going on a 16-1 run after trailing 11-10 to take a 26-12 lead. The Golden Eagles held a double-digit advantage for most of the rest of the game.
Oakland (7-12, 2-5) cut the lead to 49-42 midway through the second half, but consecutive three-pointers by Jonathan Bluitt put ORU up by double figures for good.
Calvin Wooten led Oakland with 26 points and Shawn Hopes added 22.
Wooten came into the game averaging 20.9 points, second in the conference in scoring behind Green (21.7 ppg).
Oakland beat the Golden Eagles 61-60 in the Mid-Continent Tournament championship game during the 2004-2005 season in Tulsa, catapulting the Grizzlies to a storybook NCAA Tournament berth.
