Bill would require state employees to report illegal immigrants

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A Del City legislator is proposing that state employees be required to report instances of illegal immigration they discover on the job.

State Representative Kevin Calvey says he has a deep appreciation for the contributions made by legal immigrants in Oklahoma, and that his measure isn't meant to discourage legal immigration.

But Calvey says taxpayers aren't served when a wink and a nod are given to violations of immigration laws.

Under his measure, state employees would report cases of suspected illegal immigration to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.
