GRDA executive seeks audit of agency's expenses

Updated:
VINITA, Okla. (AP) -- The chief executive of the Grand River Dam Authority is asking for a state audit of the agency.

Kevin Easley says he believes an audit will quiet recent criticism of some of the GRDA's financial decisions and he's asking his oversight board to request the audit.

The GRDA has come under criticism for spending more than $90,000 to renovate part of a warehouse to use as an office in the Bricktown area of Oklahoma City.

The agency will also pay more than $22 per square foot to rent the office space. The price is more than double what most state agencies pay for office space in Oklahoma City.

The GRDA was created by the Legislature to manage bodies of water in northeast Oklahoma and provide electricity in the region.
