Miss America endorses bill to crackdown on illegal alcohol sales

Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Miss America Jennifer Berry is endorsing a bill to increase penalties on bartenders who sell beer to minors.

Berry is from Tulsa and came to the state Capitol Monday to support the bill.

The proposal by Representative Thad Balkman has passed out of committee and is pending in the state House.

The bill would allow fines of up to $5,000 and up to five years in prison for servers who repeatedly sell beer to minors.

Businesses that sell beer to minors could lose their permit and minors who buy beer could be fined up to $900 and lose their driver's license for two years.
