Okmulgee teen dies in crash

DEWAR, Okla. (AP) -- A 17-year-old Okmulgee boy has died following a one-car crash on an Okmulgee County road.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Leo Lee Hicks the third died just before 3 Friday morning in a Tulsa hospital of injuries suffered Thursday afternoon in the crash near Henryetta.

Troopers say Hicks was driving left of center when he swerved to avoid another car, lost control and his sport utility vehicle ran into a ditch and overturned.

Troopers say Hicks wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the SUV. A passenger in the SUV was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.
