Finally residents and business owners in Owasso have some good news regarding 76th Street North.
The road has been closed since April of last year while crews work to widen it from two lanes to four.
News on 6 reporter Rick Wells says 76th Street North west of Owasso is a busy road. Thousands of cars back and forth every day. It is the main road to the nearby Cherokee Industrial Park, while other folks use it to get back and forth to downtown Tulsa.
Construction crews began the widening project last spring. There were several end dates projected and now they are almost done. The latest delay resulted from an old bridge they found, it crossed a drainage system when the original US Highway 75 jogged through the area. That took an extra three weeks to get torn out and reworked.
So now they seem to have the project back on track. The Tulsa County Engineer and the Owasso City Manager both agreed Wednesday, that the end of next week was a realistic projection to get this thing open.
So if you used to use 76 Street North to get to or from anywhere, Friday the 13th of May could be your lucky day.
