Tulsa Police seek public's help in the search for a serial rapist

Updated:
A serial rapist stikes again in Tulsa. Police say the most recent attack happened Sunday at 6 AM near 48th and South Braden.

This is his sixth attack in the past 15 months, this time, the victim is a 12 year old girl. The attacker had a knife and threatened the girl's life if she told, but she did tell her mother and has been interviewed by police. Her 7 year old sister was asleep in the same room and didn't wake up during the sexual assault.

Gary Stansill with Tulsa’s Sex Crimes Unit: "We don't have any indication that he's pre-selecting his victims a day or two ahead. It appears at least for now, that he's just prowling, looking for open windows and the type of victim he wants."

The 12 year old girl helped police create a computer-generated composite sketch[pictured left] of the man.

All the victims say he's white and heavyset, other things vary, in this case, he wore a baseball cap backward and had a thick, reddish mustache.

Last year, Tulsa Police released a composite sketch[pictured right] generated by a victim who was 11 years old. Police believe it's the same man. They remind people a composite is not a picture, but a general likeness.

All but one of these attacks has happened in apartments. In every single case, he came in through an unlocked door or window. So, they say it's more important than ever to keep your doors and windows locked.

Two neighborhood residents just east of where the attack happened couldn't believe it happened so close. Sheri Yessler: "It makes me real scared. I have a seven year old and I have to walk her to the bus stop because it could happen to any kid." Renea Lewis: "It's scary, scary to think someone is on the prowl after little kids."

Tulsa Police say everyone living in or near apartment complexes in south Tulsa need to call 911 if they see anyone prowling around overnight or looking into windows.
