Senator says goodbye on final day of session

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ State Senator Angela Monson has served in her final regular session of the Oklahoma Legislature.

Because of term limits, the Oklahoma City Democrat can't run again for legislative office.

The 49-year-old is the only legislator leaving office this year because of term limits.

The 12-year limit voters imposed on legislators caught Monson in the third year of her four-year term.

A special primary election to fill the last year of her post has been set for September 13th. A special general election will be held November 8th if a Republican gets into the race in the predominantly Democratic district.
