Some Tulsa police officers spent the holiday cracking down on drivers breaking the law.

At a checkpoint at 41st and Peoria on Monday, some officers had radar guns, while others kept their eye out for drivers not wearing their seatbelts.

A ticket for not wearing a seatbelt is only $20, but officers say some drivers still don't realize you could pay with your life. Tulsa Police Sgt Rick Bondy: "People don't realize that not only does it keep you alive in the big wrecks, but in the little wrecks it keeps you from damaging yourself. Why would you want to go to the hospital get stitches, a concussion, in a minor wreck when all you have to do is put your seatbelt on?"

Officers wrote 50 tickets at that one checkpoint Monday in just two hours.
