OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Senate Republicans unveiled a plan that calls for $3.2-million in short-term funding to hire 150 more prison guards and 50 more parole officers.

The $7.1-million plan announced Monday also would appropriate $3.9-million for district attorneys.

The plan didn't mention the need for a special session, but state Senate GOP leader Glenn Coffee says he's open to the idea.

Last week, Senate Democrats proposed spending $10.6-million in special session, with much of the money going to hire more correctional officers and to raise their pay.

State House Speaker Todd Hiett says he's not convinced a special session is warranted.

Hiett says the state House also is working on its own prison plan.
