Missing Lawton boy found in South Carolina

LAWTON, Okla. (AP) -- A 5-year-old Lawton boy is found safe after being taken by his aunt to another state without permission.

Police say authorities found Larry Lindsey Thursday afternoon and placed him in protective services custody until he can be reunited with his mother.

Investigators say 54-year-old Melissa Turner took the boy on a bus to the East Coast without the mother's permission.

Turner told family members several times that she believed the boy was the reincarnation of her dead brother.

Kevin Washington, the boyfriend of the child's mother, says Larry doesn't look like Turner's brother, but Turner grew closer to the boy because she drove him to speech therapy classes.

No charges have been filed against Turner, who hasn't been arrested. Police say they do know where she is.
