Funeral arrangements set for two Tulsa boys

Funeral arrangements have been made for two boys who died after contracting a deadly amoeba.

Services for 9 year old Terrell Hampton will be Friday at Greater Union Baptist Church in Tulsa. While services for 7 year old Martinez Owens Junior will be Saturday at Rayfield's Baptist Church in Muskogee.

Both boys died last Friday. The victims are believed to have contracted the naegleria infection from stagnant water near the Mohawk Park splash pad.

City of Tulsa Public Works Department is surveying all of Tulsa County's 31 "splash pad" sites for stagnant water. As a precaution, crews removed standing water at Helmerich Park near 73rd and Riverside.

Funds have been set up to help the families of both boys pay for hospital bills and funeral expenses.

A fund has been setup for hospital and funeral costs for Martinez Owen Jr at the Bank of Oklahoma. Donations to the Martinez Owen Jr Memorial Fund can be made at any Bank of Oklahoma branch.

A memorial fund for Terrell Hampton has been established at Bank of Oklahoma to assist the family with medical and funeral expenses. Contributions can be made at any Bank of Oklahoma branch, attention the Terrell Hampton Memorial Fund.
