A group of ORU students are back after a holiday weekend in Katrina's strike zone. Sophomore Bethany Hejtmanek and a couple dozen of her friends from ORU spent the weekend in Louisiana.

Bethany's church at home in Shreveport is currently housing more than a thousand evacuees. The group spent the weekend feeding, cleaning and baby-sitting.

Bethany says it wasn't hard convincing the group to help. "I would have taken half the school if I could house them. Half the school has offered to come with me. They just have a heart for service. They have a heart to help people. I had to cap it at about 27 to 30 people because; I have no more places to house you."

The group was initially headed to Shreveport to celebrate Bethany's birthday, but her mom volunteered them all at the shelter.
