Kerr-McGee restarts Gulf oil production

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Kerr-McGee Corporation restarted about 105,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of its total net Gulf of Mexico production.

Officials with the Oklahoma City-based company said yesterday that Kerr-McGee averaged 130,000 barrels of oil equivalent before Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast.

Worldwide, the company's production reached about 93 percent of its average pre-hurricane net daily production.

Officials say it's deepwater facilities -- Boomvang, Gunnison, Nansen and Red Hawk -- and shelf facilities in the central and western gulf are producing at pre-hurricane levels.

Inspections and repair of minor damage to the eastern gulf shelf operations that remain shut in continue.

Startup of remaining production will depend upon reopening onshore terminals, gas processing facilities and pipelines.
