OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Buyers of used cars are being cautioned to beware of thousands of waterlogged vehicles from the Gulf Coast region that could end up in the used-car market.
AAA spokesman Chuck Mai says in past hurricanes, water-damaged cars have been sold in what he calls -- quote -- ``gullible markets.''
He says Oklahoma could be targeted because it's relatively close and cars could easily be transported here.
He warned consumers to be on the look out for a musty odor, rust inside the car, or leaves or other debris under the hood, in the trunk or under the rear seat.
He also suggested having a mechanic inspecting the car before buying it.
