OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Jazzy Okie holds off even-money favorite Starry Pie by a neck to win the $50,000 Black Mesa Stakes for Oklahoma-bred fillies and mares tonight at Remington Park.

Jazzy Okie went off at 9-5 odds under jockey Don Pettinger and covered the six furlongs on a muddy track in 1 minute, 9.59 seconds.

The 3-year-old daughter of 1998 Remington Park Futurity winner King of Scat is trained by Kelly Von Hemel and has won six of 14 lifetime starts, including the Muscogee Creek Nation Stakes at Fair Meadows in Tulsa in July.

Jazzy Okie took the lead in mid-stretch and looked like she would win easily, but Starry Pie made a move from last in the 10-horse field that fell just short. Shiloah finished third.

The Richter Family Trust of Perkins owns Jazzy Okie.
