STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Former Oklahoma State University basketball coach Eddie Sutton speaks to OSU students about the dangers of alcohol.

The public speaking appearance last night was the first for the 70-year-old Sutton since the February 10th drunken-driving accident while he was driving to the Stillwater airport as the Cowboys prepared to travel to a game at Texas A&M.

He pleaded no contest in May to aggravated drunken driving, driving left of center and speeding. He was placed on probation for a year.

Sutton no longer works for the university, but he is working on a project with the OSU Foundation to help raise funds for an addiction center that would be built on the Stillwater campus.

Sutton addressed the estimated 1,500 students gathered in front of a fraternity house for about 30 minutes. He told them that he'd never drank alcohol until he attended college at OSU.

He also said they should become involved in a church in Stillwater while away from home and that they should avoid becoming addicted to vices including gambling and drugs.
