OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A national tour bus group Wednesday named Oklahoma's year-long centennial celebration the top event in the United States for 2007.
The designation by the American Bus Association is expected to be a big help for tourism in the state. The bus group represents 300 tour operators and 65 percent of the nation's privately owned buses.
ABA president and chief executive Pete Pantuso says the group placed Oklahoma's centennial at the top of its list of Top 100 Events in the US next year.
The list is a guide for professional travel planners and the public that highlights events throughout the US and Canada.
Oklahoma's centennial celebration begins in November in Tulsa and will continue until November 16th, 2007, when the state observes its 100th year of statehood.
