Muskogee Educator Named Oklahoma Teacher Of The Year

Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Muskogee teacher Linda Hasler-Reid is the 2007 Oklahoma teacher of the year.

State Superintendent Sandy Garrett announced the selection Tuesday.

Reid is a Spanish teacher for Muskogee Public Schools' 7th and 8th Grade Center.

She has been a teacher for 12 years and earned her bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University.

Reid says she loves teaching and couldn't image being satisfied doing anything else.

The awards comes with the use of a 2006 Toyota Prius for one year, cash and prizes valued at more than $30,000, tuition waivers for graduate study from four state universities.

It also includes 16 hours of free undergraduate study at the University of Oklahoma, which can be used for one of her children or a student from her hometown of Muskogee.
