Turning Grass Into Gasoline

It could be the future for transportation fuels in Oklahoma.

OSU and the Noble Foundation have teamed up to research Oklahoma's future in biofuels.

Oklahoma's Secretary of Energy David Fleischaker says the state's native switchgrass could be the next biggest thing since corn ethanol. But it could be five or ten years before we see a biorefinery established. "It's important to remember that while there is a start up period, we're talking about an industry that will come to be a major player for the balance of the 21st century."

Next month there will be a Governor's Conference on Biofuels at OSU.
