Tulsa Woman' s Frightening Ordeal After She's Attacked By A Burglar

Updated:
A Tulsa robbery victim speaks out. The 73-year-old woman says she was robbed at knife point Monday, while lying in her bed in her west Tulsa home. She tells her side of the story to News on 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright.

The woman says she has many ailments and is on a number of pain medications. Her caregiver told us a man walked into the house Monday morning and when confronted, asked for someone who didn't live there. The woman says that's the man who came back later with a knife, after her caregiver had left.

Alice says she was taking a nap in her bed when she woke up to a man with a knife standing over her Monday afternoon. "I looked up and he was over me and he had a knife stuck in my throat."

Alice carries her medications and her money in a little fuzzy purse around her neck and the man went straight for that. "I thought he was going to kill me and I thought, if he's going to kill me, he's gotta work for it."

She showed us a burn on her neck she says was caused by the man pulling her out of bed and toward the front door by the string of that little purse. She also has cuts on her hands she says she got from his knife as she fought back. "I'm mad for people who try to make it over on other people, that they don't work and comes in and takes advantage of you. I worked all my life to pay for this house."

She says the purse also had her bank cards and house keys, so she's changed her accounts and the locks on her doors.

Tulsa Police are trying to figure out how the suspect knew so much about Alice, like the fact she'd just filled her pain prescriptions on Friday, the fact she kept them around her neck, even where her bedroom was inside her house and that her door was unlocked.

Once they get more answers, the News on 6 will bring you an update.

Doctors and Tulsa Police both say, never tell anyone when you get a prescription filled, especially a drug like oxycontin, because they sell for several dollars a pill on the streets.
