Life Saving Training Goes High-Tech

Updated:
Life saving training for a medical professional is more advanced than ever before.

Before EMSA paramedics are equipped to save human lives they endure rigorous training on high-tech dummies called smart dummies.

The smart dummies have advanced computer software that focuses on cardiac-arrest management. They can imitate medical emergencies of human beings such as an irregular heartbeat or blocked airway. "Events and things that these candidates will encounter in the real world, on real patients we simulate with these mannequins giving them every possible scenario they will run into," said paramedic assistant supervisor, Matt Johnson.

EMSA says the dummies provide a pass and fail method to determine whether trainees are qualified to save human lives.
