OU opens hoop season tonight

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) The Jeff Capel era officially begins Friday night as Oklahoma opens the college basketball season with a home game against Norfolk State.

The Sooners will start a three-guard lineup featuring Austin Johnson, David Godbold and Tony Crocker with forward Taylor Griffin and center Longar Longar.

OU is without starter Michael Neal who's suspended for two games for violating an NCAA rule regarding summer league play and guard Bobby Maze is out after undergoing surgery for a foot injury.

Tip-off is at 7 Friday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.
