Tracking State Spending

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A bill to set up a state website for taxpayers to track government spending has won approval in the state Senate.

The proposal is similar to one passed by Congress and sponsored by Senators Tom Coburn of Oklahoma Barrack Obama of Illinois.

State Senator Randy Brogdon says the Office of State Finance will operate the Oklahoma website and has told him there will be little cost associated with it.

The bill passed on a 45-to-0 vote Thursday and now goes to the state House for action.
