20-Year Master Plan Approved For Oklahoma State***

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) The board of regents that governs Oklahoma State University approved a 20-year master plan for the campus on Friday.

The plan, aimed at the year 2025, follows a short-term campus plan approved by the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents last year to guide an $825 million capital improvement project that includes an athletic village priced at more than $300 million.

"This is an important step in the history of this great university," said OSU Interim System CEO and President Marlene Strathe.

The 2025 master plan includes strategies to emphasize the entry points to the campus and to make a central library mall area the nucleus of the campus. Strathe called it "a blue print that will guide OSU for many, many years."

Regents voted unanimously in support of the plan, which was formulated by dozens of campus groups working with city government officials and campus representatives.

"It's an incredible effort on behalf of OSU's administration to not only conduct the campus master planning process in-house but to also look beyond the boundaries of the campus," said Paula Dennison, director of Development Services for the City of Stillwater.

Oklahoma State has also created a long-range facilities planning group to administer the master plan and review it annually.

Although the 2025 plan incorporates the facilities expansions laid out in the five-year master plan, spokesman Gary Shutt said both are intended only as a vision of the campus' future and can be changed freely.
