Fort Worth Area Suffers Damage From Nasty Storm; One Dead

DALLAS (AP) -- At least one person was killed and a church destroyed by a storm that pushed through North Texas.

Authorities say a man was killed at a lumber yard in Haltom City after a pile of wood fell on top of him. He was pulled out from beneath the debris but died before paramedics could get him to a hospital.

TV coverage showed a dozen tractor-trailers on their sides in Haltom City. A Baptist church was lost.

The National Weather Service says there was almost certainly at least one tornado spawned by the storm.

The storm forced cancellation of NASCAR qualifying races at Texas Motor Speedway.
