STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- A Houston-based energy marketer and his family donated $2 million on Monday toward a building project for the Oklahoma State University business school. University officials said that in honor of the donation, OSU would name the trading floor of its Spears School of Business as the Charles L. Watson Trading Floor.

Watson, a 1972 OSU business graduate, is the co-founder and chairman of Eagle Energy Partners, a business established in 2003 that focuses on the purchase, distribution and sale of natural gas and electric power.

He also is chairman of a venture capital company and a partner in a real estate firm.

"One of Oklahoma State University's strongest and lasting assets is its loyal and generous alumni," OSU interim President Marlene Strathe said in a statement. "Chuck and Kim Watson are once again making a huge academic impact on their alma mater."

Watson said that while OSU's business school "has always been recognized for outstanding achievement in instruction, research and outreach ... to stay vital and relevant students need a new facility in which to learn."

Kim Watson also is an OSU graduate.
