Bill Would Increase Requirements For OHLAP

Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The requirements to receive a state-funded college scholarship would go up under a bill passed by the state House. The Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program, or OHLAP offers scholarships to students whose families income is less than $50,000 a year.

The students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher in high school and must stay out of trouble.

The bill raises the grade point requirement to 2.75 and the student must maintain that average throughout college and continue to stay out of trouble.

The new requirements would apply only to new students applying for the scholarship.
