CHICAGO (AP) _ Sammy Sosa's return to Chicago Tuesday night would have been more dramatic had he'd been playing at Wrigley Field rather than U.S. Cellular Field.
He did wear the White Sox uniform for parts of three seasons, but it was with the Cubs for 13 years that he became one of the most popular figures in the city's sports history and one of baseball's greatest home run hitters.
His legacy was diminished when he was caught using a corked bat in 2003 and then left the clubhouse before the end of the regular-season finale in 2004.
Before Tuesday night's Rangers-White Sox game, Sosa said he has taken responsibility for his miscues and has said he is sorry.
Sosa said he wants to be remembered in Chicago for giving all he had.
