A Tulsa County school district spent Friday morning dealing with what police believe was a bogus threat. Broken Arrow had extra police officers on hand at North and South Intermediate High Schools, after allegations of a hit list surfaced Thursday night.

In a news release, Broken Arrow Police Major Mark Irwin says the list was purported to contain the names of other students who might be possible targets of violence. Major Irwin say officers talked with the accused student and searched his home and found no evidence.

Sand Springs Police were on hand at Charles Page High School Friday morning for what police say was a routine drug dog search of the school. Despite rumors of something else, Sand Springs school officials say Friday's campus presence was planned weeks in advance.

Police say these types of calls and rumors always increase after an incident like Virginia Tech. Most of the time they are bogus. KOTV.com and the News On 6 at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. will look at how the police and media handle these type of situations.
